ABOUT THE OPEN EDUCATION CONFERENCE

The Open Education Conference (“OpenEd”) is an annual convening for sharing and learning about open educational resources, open pedagogy, and open education initiatives. This engaging event brings together over 1,600 educators and open education advocates in-person and online to collaborate, support, and drive strategies for education that are accessible, affordable, and reflective of the learners they serve.

The Open Education Conference community has gathered annually since 2004—originally in person, then online, and now as an inclusive hybrid event. Deeply rooted in the community, the conference is led by a community-elected board of directors and driven by a shared strategic vision. Conference operations are currently housed within SPARC.

The 2025 Open Education Conference (#OpenEd25) will be held on October 28-30, 2025 in Denver, USA and online around the globe.
