ABOUT

ABOUT THE OPEN EDUCATION CONFERENCE

The Open Education Conference (“OpenEd”) is an annual convening for sharing and learning about open educational resources, open pedagogy, and open education initiatives. This dynamic gathering celebrates the core values of open education that strive to realize education ecosystems that are accessible, affordable, equitable and inclusive to everyone, regardless of their background.

The Open Education Conference community has gathered annually since 2004. In 2020, the conference began a transition to community governance, supported by a four-organization partnership. As of 2022, the conference transitioned to leadership by a community-elected board of directors, guided by a strategic vision. Conference operations are currently housed within SPARC.
