Announcing 2022 Board of Directors Election
As we prepare to gather for the 2022 Open Education Conference on October 17-20th, the Open Education Conference is launching its annual community election process for its Board of Directors. Guided by the Strategic Vision, newly elected Directors will join conference leadership in January 2023 to shape its future as a sustainable, community-owned event.
The goal of the election is to appoint six community members to serve on the Board for a two year term, starting January 1, 2023 and ending December 31, 2024. Starting today, interested candidates will have three weeks to self nominate. Community members interested in running for the Board of Directors are invited to review the requirements and self-nominate by November 6, 2022. Voting will take place over a two week period from November 16-30, 2022. For more details, visit the election page.

CANDIDATE SELF-NOMINATION
The election will select six community members to serve a two-year term on the Board of Directors. Anyone interested in being a candidate is invited to review the Requirements & Responsibilities and complete the self-nomination form. In general, candidates for the election must:
Have attended the Open Education Conference at least once.
Identify with the Open Education Conference community and work toward its Strategic Vision.
Be able to fulfill the Requirements & Responsibilities, including the 6-10 hour monthly time commitment.
The deadline for election candidates to self-nominate is November 6, 2022 at 11:59pm PST.
VOTING PROCESS & REGISTRATION
Anyone who has attended the Open Education Conference or otherwise identifies as a member of the Open Education Conference community is eligible to vote in the election. If you have registered to attend OpenEd21 or OpenEd22, you are automatically registered to vote. If you have previously registered to vote but have not attended any of the conferences listed above, you will need to renew your voter registration. To renew your voter registration, or to update your registered email address, please complete the voter registration form.
Voting will take place November 16-30, 2022 and secure voting instructions will be delivered to each registered voter by email.
BACKGROUND & MORE INFORMATION
The Open Education Conference is an annual convening for sharing and learning about open educational resources, open pedagogy, and open education initiatives. Building on a sixteen year history, the conference began a transition to community leadership, including the adoption of a Strategic Vision and election of a Board of Directors in 2021. Currently, the Open Education Conference is fiscally housed within SPARC.
