2025 Board Election Results
Now that the voting period has officially closed, we are thrilled to share that the election process for appointing new Board members is now complete.
The Open Education Conference Board is designed to include staggered, two-year term lengths to ensure institutional memory is passed forward. Annually, an election is held to appoint 50% of the Board who will fill the seats of those 50% of Directors who will rotate off the Board in a given year.
This year, over 500 Open Education Conference Community members participated in the election, representing 20% of the population who attended OpenEd24, OpenEd25, or otherwise registered to vote. Votes were cast online through a secure platform during the voting period.
The following six candidates received the greatest amount of votes, and therefore will be appointed to the Board for a two-year term starting in January 2026:
Amanda Coolidge, Principal/Founder, Coolidge Collaborative, Inc. (BC, Canada)
April Crenshaw, Associate Professor, Chattanooga State Community College (TN, USA), returning for a second term
Ash Barber, Senior Coordinator, OER Collective, Council of Australasian University Librarians (South Australia, Australia), returning for a second term
Michelle Pilati, Project Director, Academic Senate for California Community Colleges OER Initiative (OERI) (CA, USA)
rehshetta wells, Graduate Research Assistant and Educator, University of North Carolina at Greensboro (NC, USA)
Yang Wu, Open Resources Librarian, Clemson University (SC, USA)
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who participated in the election process, and particularly to each person who put their name forward as a nominee. It takes a great deal of courage to run in a community election, and there were many outstanding candidates who each make outstanding contributions to the Open Education Conference community.
More information about the election process is available on the election homepage. Stay tuned to this conference mailing list as well as social media channels for more announcements in the New Year.
