Keynote Announcement: Governor Jared Polis
The Open Education Conference is delighted to announce that Colorado Governor Jared Polis will deliver a keynote address at #OpenEd25, taking place October 28–30, 2025, in Denver, CO, and online.
Governor Jared Polis is an entrepreneur, education leader, and public servant. After launching several successful companies, Governor Polis committed himself to making sure other Coloradans had the opportunity to pursue their dreams through founding schools for at-risk students and new immigrants and started nonprofits to help veterans. Prior to serving as Governor, he served on the State Board of Education and represented Colorado's 2nd Congressional district.
We are excited to welcome Governor Polis as a long-time champion for open educational resources (OER). As a Congressman, Governor Polis sponsored bipartisan legislation to reduce the cost of textbooks and helped secure funding for the federal Open Textbook Pilot program. During his tenure as Governor, Colorado’s statewide OER and Zero Textbook Cost initiatives have saved students more than $50 million on college textbooks.
