The Open Education Conference is an annual in-person and virtual convening where educators and open education advocates gather to collaborate, support, and drive strategies for education that are accessible, affordable, and reflective of the learners they serve. The 2025 Open Education Conference will be held over three days on October 28-30, 2025 as a hybrid event, with in-person attendance hosted in Denver, CO, USA, and virtual attendance welcomed from across the globe.
The conference will be set in Mountain Daylight Time (GMT-6:00). The conference will start at around 9:00am MDT each day and run until approximately 4:30pm MDT. The official conference timetable will be released in May.

The conference grows each year, with last year’s event welcoming over 1600 participants from across the globe!
At last year’s hybrid event in Providence, RI, USA, over 400 participants attended in person and over 1100 participated online.

The conference warmly welcomes participation from attendees regardless of country, educational background, or professional role. Students are especially encouraged to submit proposals and participate.
Call for Proposals

The Call for Proposals is open until Friday April 4, 2025! Submit your proposal through Oxford Abstracts (creation of a free profile is required). You may also use a drafting template of the submission form to draft your proposal before submitting. (NOTE: You MUST submit your proposal through Oxford Abstracts for it to be considered!)

The conference is currently accepting submissions in hybrid, virtual and in-person formats. Read more about session formats and types in the official Call for Proposals.

If a session (of any format) is accepted, the primary contact will be required to register for the conference by the early-bird deadline of August 29th. Please note that every presenter (primary or non-primary) planning to present in-person at the conference will be required to register as an in-person attendee. Virtual presenters who are not the primary contact will not be required to register in order to present virtually or as part of a pre-recorded session. Cost waivers for virtual registration are available by application, especially to students, those located outside of North America, and others for whom cost would be a barrier. ATTENDING VIRTUALLY

You will access the conference through the Oxford Abstracts platform. Further instructions will be provided with the attendee guide distributed prior to the conference.

Live sessions will be held in Zoom similar to previous years. Zoom links to join sessions will be available through the program in your Oxford Access account during the week of the conference. Pre-recorded sessions will be available as embedded videos in the conference platform.
