Announcing New Board of Directors
The Open Education Conference is pleased to share that a new Board of Directors has been formed that will see the conference through 2022 and beyond. The Board has officially assumed leadership of the conference, and updates on the 2022 conference will be released soon.
Six members of the Board were appointed by a community election that took place in December 2021. The election was open to candidates that had not served on the conference planning teams during the two-year interim planning period. These six Directors will serve a two-year term. Earlier this year, the additional six Directors were appointed from those volunteers who had served on the conference planning teams over the past two years. This was done with the intent of preserving institutional memory and establishing a staggered election cycle, as these six Directors will serve a one year term on the Board.
Now that all Board appointments are complete, the conference is pleased to share the full Board of Directors:
Stefanie Buck (2022-2023) - Director, Open Educational Resources at Oregon State University

Earlier this year, the Open Education Conference launched a strategic planning process to chart its future as a community-owned event, with the goal of developing the foundations for a sustainable, community-led governance structure to assume leadership after 2021. After an interim partnership guided the conference through a two-year transitional period during 2020 and 2021, the new Board has been designed to promote a more long-term, sustainable governance model for the conference. The conference’s Strategic Vision, as adopted in 2021, will continue to serve as the foundational document from which decisions about the future of the conference will be made.
