Election Results

Now that the voting period has officially closed, conference organizers are thrilled to share that the election process for appointing our new Directors is now complete.

Nearly 600 Open Education Conference Community members participated in the election, representing more than 20% of the population who attended OpenEd20, OpenEd21, or otherwise registered to vote. Votes were cast online through a secure platform during the one week voting period.

The following candidates six candidates received the greatest amount of votes, and therefore have been officially appointed to the Board for a two-year term starting in January 2022 (in alphabetical order by last name):

  • Stefanie Buck, Director of Open Educational Resources, Oregon State University (Oregon, USA)

  • Tonja Conerly, Professor of Sociology, San Jacinto College (Texas, USA)

  • Rachel Meisner, Course Designer and Open Educational Resources Coordinator, Pikes Peak Community College (Colorado, USA)

  • Robbie Melton, Associate Vice President - HBCU OER Affordable Learning Solutions, Tennessee State University & HBCU Affordable Learning Solutions (Tennessee, USA)

  • Amy Nusbaum, Assistant Professor of Psychology, Heritage University (Washington, USA)

  • Elita Partosoedarso, Senior Teaching Professor, OntarioTech University (Ontario, Canada)

Conference organizers would like to extend their sincere thanks to everyone who participated in the election process, but particularly to each person who put their name forward as a nominee. It takes a great deal of courage to run in a community election, and each individual’s contribution strengthens the Open Education Conference community.

Now that the election has appointed these six Directors for two-year terms, an adjacent, internal process will take place to fill the six remaining Director seats with individuals from the 2020 and 2021 conference committees to serve a one-year term. These returning volunteers will play an important role in passing on institutional memory, and their shortened term will establish a rotation pattern for the Board’s future membership.

More information about the election process is available on the conference website. Stay tuned to this conference mailing list as well as social media channels for more announcements in the New Year.
