The Benefits of Registering Early

Written by Yang Wu, the Open Resources Librarian at Clemson University and a member of the #OpenEd21 Communications Committee.

OpenEd21 is less than three months away! We represent a diverse group of individuals dedicated to sharing and learning about Open Educational Resources (OER), open pedagogy, and open education initiatives from North America and beyond, and offer dynamic and thought provoking programming each year. While there is still some time to register, please consider the many benefits of doing so early. They include:

  1. An early conference registration discount: Register before October 1, 2021 and pay the $75 US earlybird rate for standard registrations. The conference registration fee will change to $85 after this date. (Student registration is $25 USD).

  2. Digital swag: The conference will provide personalized digital swag for each attendee, including a Zoom background. Those who register early will be guaranteed to get their swag pack.

  3. An opportunity to plan your conference early: You will be able to get into the OpenEd conference platform early, so you can start planning your schedule. You will also receive updates on the conference and its highlights via email. Use this to better plan what events you will attend and how you will spend your time.

  4. Helping us improve the ways we can support you!: Early registration will allow us to better understand you, any accommodations that will make your conference experience great, and generally how we can better plan how we can enhance your conference experience.

OpenEd is not just a conference, it is a community. We welcome participation from anyone seeking to broaden their knowledge of OER, open pedagogy and Open Education and hope to develop an ever expanding community of individuals from many backgrounds. Registrants have the opportunity to apply for scholarships to attend for free or at a discounted rate. Those with an interest in the conference also have the opportunity to give feedback on its planning and direction, as well as contribute to OpenEd through volunteering opportunities. If you have just heard about us and plan to register for the first time, please take a moment to learn more about opportunities for participation. We look forward to hearing from you!
