Welcome International Attendees!
Written by Yang Wu, a member of the #OpenEd21 Communications Committee
The Open Education Conference (OpenEd) is the largest gathering on Open Educational Resources (OER) and Open Education in North America and one of the largest in the world. The conference seeks to give voice to diverse perspectives from across the globe. People from over 60 countries attended OpenEd last year, adding to the richness of the conference by serving as speakers, conference planning committee members and taking part as participants.
OpenEd21 offers an even greater opportunity for international attendees to learn from and network with OER and Open Education enthusiasts and advocates from around the world. The entire conference is virtual and most sessions are either pre-recorded and made viewable on the conference website, or recorded live and made available for viewing 24 hours after the event to accommodate attendees from different time zones. To support non-native English speakers, all recordings are also English captioned. OpenEd21 also provides a social space on Discord where conversations can happen around the clock, allowing people to participate wherever they are in the world. The conference this year includes presentations by dozens of international speakers, including:
