2024 Board Election Results

Now that the voting period has officially closed, conference organizers are thrilled to share that the election process for appointing new Directors is now complete.

The Open Education Conference Board of Directors is designed to include staggered, two-year term lengths to ensure institutional memory is passed forward. Annually, an election is held to appoint 50% of the Board who will fill the seats of those 50% of Directors who will rotate off the Board in a given year.

This year, over 450 Open Education Conference Community members participated in the election, representing 18% of the population who attended OpenEd23, OpenEd24, or otherwise registered to vote. Votes were cast online through a secure platform during the voting period.

The following six candidates received the greatest amount of votes, and therefore have been officially appointed to the Board for a two-year term starting in January 2025:

  • Kim Grewe; Instructional Designer, Northern Virginia Community College (Virginia, USA)

  • Amanda Larson; Affordable Learning Instructional Consultant, The Ohio State University (Ohio, USA)

  • Nico Osier; Clinical Assistant Professor, The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing (Texas, USA)

  • Pranjal Saloni; Open Education Lab Coordinator, Ontario Tech University (Ontario, Canada)

  • Nicholas Swails; Dean of Academic Affairs and Online Learning, Colorado Northwestern Community College (Colorado, USA)

  • Lily Todorinova; Undergraduate Experience/Open Educational Research, Rutgers University-New Brunswick (New Jersey, USA)

Conference organizers would like to extend their sincere thanks to everyone who participated in the election process, but particularly to each person who put their name forward as a nominee. It takes a great deal of courage to run in a community election, and each individual’s contribution strengthens the Open Education Conference community.

More information about the election process is available on the election homepage. Stay tuned to this conference mailing list as well as social media channels for more announcements in the New Year.
