#OpenEd23 Keynote Speakers Announced
The Open Education Conference Board of Directors is thrilled to announce the keynote speakers for #OpenEd23, which will take place virtually on November 7-9, 2023. The conference theme, “Innovation and Praxis: Building on 20 Years of Community,” focuses on building upon the Open Education work accomplished in the last two decades to make education more accessible, affordable, and equitable for all. This year’s keynote speakers are:
Tuesday, November 7
Dr. Rajiv Jhangiani is the Vice Provost, Teaching and Learning at Brock University in Ontario, Canada, where he holds faculty appointments in the Departments of Educational Studies and Psychology, directs the Inclusive Education Research Lab, and is an affiliated member of the Social Justice Research Institute. The architect of Canada’s first zero textbook cost degree programs, his scholarship focuses on open educational practices, student-centered pedagogies, and ethical approaches to educational technology.
Wednesday, November 8
Jasmine Roberts-Crews is a professor of communication at Ohio State University. She has delivered numerous talks nationwide on social justice in higher education, digital activism, inclusive pedagogy, and communication. Her advocacy work centers on the experiences of people of color, women, and queer communities.
In addition to these keynotes, the conference will conclude on Thursday with a plenary featuring a student panel entitled "Imagining the Future of OER: Student Contributions to Open Education."
